Alexandria native Kaisa Bosek, who is currently a student at Paul Smith’s College in New York, and was a standout on the Cardinal Nordic Skiing team, has qualified for the 2023 IBU Junior Open European Championships.
Bosek qualified for the championship by having a strong showing at the United States Biathlon Team Trials in Anchorage, Alaska, where she competed in three races from Dec. 27-31, 2022.
Bosek placed eighth with a time of 28:34.1 in a sprint race on Dec. 28, 11th in a pursuit race (40:55.6) on Dec. 29, and 14th (24:12.0) in a sprint race on Dec. 31.
The IBU Junior Open European Championship races will be held in Haanja, Estonia and Madona, Latvia, from Feb. 15 -19, 2023.
Joining her on the US IBU Junior Open European Championship roster is fellow Paul Smith’s College student Dolcie Tanguay of Fort Kent, Maine.

Paul Smith's College program has been serving as the Eastern Education and Training Center for US Biathlon since 2020.
The US team roster also includes Helen Wilson of Eagle River, Alaska, Lina Farra of Heber City, Utah, and Hannah Chipman of Norwich, Vermont.
Bosek is a biathlon athlete who has previously been on the US Youth Olympic and US Youth World team.
