Alexandria sophomore Hannah Boraas and junior Cora Larson went back and forth as the top scorers for the girls golf team much of this past season, and both were recognized as co-MVPs for a team that won the Class AAA state championship.
Boraas’ year included tying a Cardinals’ scoring record in an 18-hole round when she shot a 69 at Geneva Golf Club.
Boraas and Larson tied for medalist honors at the Section 8-3A two-day meet. Larson went on to place ninth at the state tournament, while Boraas was 11th. The two also joined sophomore Aisling O’Connor and junior Lauren Rebrovich as All-Central Lakes Conference players.
Rebrovich earned Alexandria’s Most Improved Player Award. She finished sixth at the section meet, and then 19th at the state meet. O’Connor, junior Isabella Hagen and 8th-grader Rachel Bowen joined Rebrovich, Larson and Boraas from that state championship team. All are expected back next spring to try to make another run.
The team set a new school record for low 18-hole score of 303 with their play on the second day of state at the Bunker Hills Golf Club. This group also set the low 36-hole school record with their play both days of the state tournament with scores of 319 and 303 for the 622 total.

The Cardinals won every championship in their way in 2021 after also taking the CLC title ahead of the section and state meets.
Alexandria was equally as impressive in the classroom where all eight team members (Larson, Hagen, Rebrovich, Boraas, O'Connor, Ella Houska, Teryn Jaworski, Madeline Buysse) who were eligible in grades 9-12 earned a gold academic award with GPAs of 3.6-4.0.
Larson, Hagen, Rebrovich, Boraas, O'Connor, Bowen and Elizabeth Sticha earned athletic letters from the team.
