Alexandria Figure Skating Club competes in large competition in Duluth

Members of the Alexandria Figure Skating Club got the chance to compete in Duluth and have a busy schedule in upcoming weeks

The Alexandria Figure Skating Club is in the thick of its season and recently competed in the Northland Figure Skating Competition in Duluth recently. The competition is a four-day, non-qualification competition and is one of the largest of its kind in the United States.

Alexandria sent 20 skaters ranging from Basic 3 to Ladies Excel Intermediate:

Aly Elenberger (Freeskate 2) - Elements 2nd, Program 2nd
Aubrey Elenberger (Freeskate 1) - Elements 5th, Program 5th
Aurora Nettleton (Pre-Freeskate) - Elements 2nd, Program 4th
Eve Rustman (Freeskate 1) - Elements 3rd, Program 3rd
Hadley Peterson (Basic 6) - Elements 3rd, Program 5th
Harper Medway (Pre-Freeskate) - Elements 4th, Program 1st
Harris Fosso (Basic 4 Boys) - Program 3rd
Kilee Arvidson (Pre-Freeskate) - Elements 1st, Program 3rd
Kylie Williams (Basic 6) - Elements 4th, Program 4th
Paisley Olson (Freeskate 4) - Elements 1st, Program 3rd
Leyna Olson (Basic 4) - Elements 6th, Program 5th
Aili Schultz (Excel Intermediate) - Freeskate 8th, Jumps 6th
Alexis Anderson (Excel Beginner) - Compulsory 7th, Freeskate 6th, Jumps 6th

Lisa Olson, who is a co-head coach for the club, said that they’ve seen a lot of growth in the club in recent years.

“This event allowed us to not only compete against some of the best skaters in our state and surrounding states, but it let us see just how competitive our club can be as we continue to grow in the competitive direction again,” Olson said. “What I love about our club is the cohesiveness between all of our skaters and the support that the older skaters give to our younger ones. Our athletes work very hard and respect each other in each stage of their development.”

Feb. 4 - St. Cloud Granite City Compete USA Competition
Feb. 4 - Alexandria Boys HS Hockey Game Performance
Feb. 18 & 19 - Brainerd Vacationland Compete USA Competition
Feb. 26 - Brooklyn Park Skate in the Park Competition
March 4 - Fergus Falls Compete USA Competition
March 11 - Alexandria Battle of the Blades Compete USA
March 25 & 26 - Annual Spring Ice Show
