The Alexandria Viking Speedway hosted two nights of races during its Memorial Weekend Special on Saturday and Sunday.
Sunday’s races saw five different drivers grab feature wins. Blake Jegtvig of Hawley held off Brady Gerdes and Dustin Bitzan in an 18-car Modifieds feature to take the checkered flag. Alexandria’s Shawn Olson won the Midwest Modifieds feature, with Corey Storck and Austin Chyba in second and third behind him.
In Street Stocks, Justin Vogel of Brooten won a 22-car feature ahead of Alexandria’s Andrew Bangsund in second and Morris’ Eric Riley in third. Dave Mass of East Bethel won in Super Stocks, with Jim Gullikson in second and Josh Zimpel in third.
Young driver Bryce Sward of Nelson also added another feature win to his season by taking the Limited Late Models ahead of Dustin Bluhm in second and Ben Wolden in third. Sward, 15, also won during the speedway’s season opener on May 11.
The same five classes ran on Saturday night to get the weekend festivities started. Feature winners there included Gerdes in Modifieds, Brock Gronwold in Midwest Modifieds, Ryan Satter in Street Stocks, Mass in Super Stocks and Ben Wolden in the Limited Late Models.
