The Ashby softball team split its doubleheader with Hillcrest Lutheran Academy Monday afternoon.

After the Arrows took game one by a score of 3-2, they could not pull out a win in game two losing 10-5. HLA had 10 hits and got to Ashby starting pitcher Madison Bestul early. She gave up nine runs in three innings. Josey Ness came in relief to allow one run and two hits.

HLA created opportunities on the base paths. Mackenzie Foss had three of her team's six stolen bases.

Ashby (4-13) now heads to New York Mills (18-2) to take on the top seed in the Section 6A-South subsection on Tuesday.
