Free Play Ball! Minnesota youth baseball clinic coming to Alexandria

Play Ball! Minnesota, an initiative of the Minnesota Twins Community Fund, will host a free youth baseball clinic in Alexandria on June 1.

The youth clinic is hosted by Lakes Area Recreation and Runestone Electric Association. It will take place at Knute Nelson Memorial Park. In even of rain, it will move to Discovery Middle School.

Play Ball! Minnesota clinics are for boys and girls ages 6-13. Participants ages 6-9 should report at 9 a.m. and those ages 10-13 should report at 10:30 a.m. The clinic instructors will provide all the necessary equipment for the day. However, players should bring their gloves. Participants must register in advance at www.playballmn.com.

Funding for the Play Ball! Minnesota clinics is provided by the Twins Community Fund and Great River Energy.

“For nearly 60 years, Twins youth clinics have provided baseball instruction to young players in communities throughout Twins Territory,” Stephanie Johnson, Executive Director of the Twins Community Fund, said in a release. “We’re proud to continue this tradition for a new generation of ballplayers.”
