The Alexandria boys soccer team snapped a five-game losing streak on Thursday by controlling a 5-1 game against Sauk Rapids-Rice.
The Storm are just 1-10-1 on the season. That lone win came in a 2-1 final against Alexandria on Aug. 30, but the Cardinals (4-10) made sure they didn’t let Sauk Rapids stick around this time. Graham Peterson scored for Alexandria in the third minute of the game. That was a prelude to JJ Foster breaking out as the senior finished with a hat trick behind goals in the 15th, 19th and 44th minutes. The Cardinals’ final goal came from Jayce Warrey, who scored his first varsity goal in the 53rd minute. Foster also had two assists in the game, while Joshua Kietzmann added two helpers and Holden Hanson added one.
The Cardinals dominated the ball all night as senior Zach Wosepka got the win in net with just one save needed.
