The Osakis girls tennis team beat their expectations by making it to the semifinals of the Class A state tournament. After a 6-1 defeat of Blue Earth Area in round one, the Silverstreaks battled Holy Family Catholic High School in the semifinals and fell in a tight 4-3 final.
The Fire took the first two singles matchups but Osakis earned two points with the last two singles slots. Tia Dykema fell to Sophie Lynch in first singles 6-3, 6-1. Shea Olson lost to Ally Agerland 6-1 and 6-2.
Lauren Scherr defeated Maggie Berg after losing the first set. Scherr earned a team point by winning in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Alexa Lien defeated Laura Kirsch in a decisive two set match, 6-2 and 6-0.
Holy Family Catholic took the first two doubles matches to secure the win. Alexis Pricco and Lindsey Harris won at first doubles over Kali Giesler and Karlee Hoffarth in three close sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Emma Terris and Molly Garin beat Camryn Hoffarth and Kiara Hensley 6-2, 6-2 at second doubles.
Dinara Dykema and Mara VanNyhuis defeated Julia Geurs and Anna Vakulskus in third doubles, 6-3, 6-1.
The Silverstreaks will play for the third place spot at 2 p.m. at the Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center in Minneapolis. They will play Rochester Lourdes High School who lost 6-1 to The Blake School.
