The Alexandria Blizzard got its second win of the season on Saturday night and it came in an overtime battle at New Ulm.

The two West Division teams were tied at four apiece after three periods. That set up a game-winner for Blizzard newcomer Peter Johnson just 18 seconds into the extra session. It was one of two goals on the night for the Dalton native.

Alexandria (2-2) led 2-1 after the first period, thanks to Johnson's first goal and another by Josiah Roen that came shorthanded.

Bayler Kraus got New Ulm (0-0-2-1) on the board near the end of the first period before Alec Skar made it a 3-1 Blizzard lead at 7:47 of the second period.

Alexandria couldn't quite shake the Steel. New Ulm's Kirk Coppock cut it to a 3-2 deficit late in the middle frame. Alexandria answered again with a David Carey goal at 6:29 of the third, but New Ulm got the next two from Vitaliy Nosov and Jack Parks to tie it at four apiece.

Brady Meyers got the win in net for the Blizzard with 30 saves on his 34 shots faced. Ryan Beilenberg took the overtime loss after 17 saves and five goals allowed for New Ulm.

Alexandria is back in action this weekend with two more road games. The Blizzard goes to New Ulm again on Friday at 7:10 p.m. before going to the Breezy Point Hockey Center to play the North Stars at 7:30 on Saturday night.
