The Alexandria adapted bowling PI team took second place with a score of 1,668 in the 18-team Alexandria Invitational, while the CI team took third and the ASD team finished sixth.

The PI team was made up of Matt Senstad, who led the boys singles with a 437 series; Alex Eggert, who was third in the boys with a 418; Lily Hjelle, who took third among the girls with a 410 and Ross Minnerath, who posted a 403.

Only Anoka-Hennepin (1,696) finished ahead of Alexandria in the PI Division.

"I think seeing the medals puts a little pressure on them," Cardinals head coach Wade Traphagen said. "They like getting the first-through-third medals. That kind of gives them an extra incentive to bowl their best. I think they did pretty well today."

The CI team of Robert Goor (fifth, 430), Jon Jahnke, Harley Funk and Domnick Goor finished with a score of 1,666, which was behind only the Anoka-Hennepin's 1,782 and Mankato East's 1,674.

Mercedes Nelson's 371 series took second among girls in the ASD division to join Brendan Hargreaves, Evan Larson and Cameron Arndt for a team score of 1,453.

"They just have so much fun with it," Traphagen said. "It's great to see, just to give them an opportunity to be part of a team and included in something like this is just awesome. I like it because you never have to get after them. Where in other sports you'll have kids slacking off, here they're just out there having fun and they always want to do their best."
