The Rocori volleyball team proved to be the best of the Central Lakes Conference this year after the Spartans wrapped up at least a share of the CLC title with a three-game sweep of Alexandria last Thursday night.
The Spartans (18-3) moved to 11-0 in league play behind 11 kills and three aces from Morgan Holthaus.
“While the girls worked hard and brought positive energy and effort to the court, it simply was not enough to overcome the Spartans’ depth and strength,” Alexandria head coach Becky Schlichting said. “Our offense was not as effective as usual, which is where our struggle began.”
The Cardinals had just 21 kills in the match and nobody in double figures. Liz Schultz and Jordyn Lamb finished with five apiece, while Kalley Bistodeau added four. Amanda Haack had 21 assists and Bistodeau led the way with 10 digs.
“One highlight for the night was our blocking,” Schlichting said. “After a rough first set in this area, there was great improvement throughout, which allowed our defense to do their job with a bit more ease. We had a season high 10 blocks for the night, which is something to be proud of, especially against a strong offensive team.”
Schultz led the way in that category with seven assisted blocks. Lamb added four and Haack helped out on three blocks.
