The Osakis boys' basketball team dropped its first game in the Prairie Conference this season with a 58-51 loss to Eagle Valley on Tuesday night.
The Silverstreaks fell behind in the first half and went into the break down by eight after only scoring 19 points in the opening half. They would cut into that lead in the second half, but not enough, as the Rebels held on for the six-point win.
"We didn't play with the sense of urgency or intensity that we have this year, and it cost us," head coach Chris Stroup said. "Credit Eagle Valley coaches and players for coming out with fire and focus. A disappointing loss in the conference, but we need to get back to playing Silverstreak basketball."
Tony Roggenbuck, Adam Sadlemyer and Matt Laven all scored in double figures for Osakis. Only six players scored in all for the Silverstreaks, though. Roggenbuck led the way with 15 points, including three three-pointers. Laven was right behind with 13, while Sadlemyer added 12.
"We are in a funk," Stroup said. "When you're in the doldrums, you just can't seem to get a break. We need to focus on the two things we've gotten away from - defense and not turning the ball over. When we get back this focus, we won't need to worry about getting breaks, we'll make our own."
The Silverstreaks fell to 5-1 in the Prairie Conference with the loss. They moved to 7-8 overall.
