Jacob Taplin had a couple of pins at 120 pounds for the Silverstreaks, but it was not quite enough in the team finals as Osakis went 0-3.

The Osakis wrestling team ran into some good teams on the way to losing three duals at the Pequot Lakes-Pine River-Backus Quad on Tuesday night.

The Silverstreaks almost edged Blackduck-Cass Lake-Bena in a 37-33 final against the Bears, while Class A’s 11th-ranked Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale-Parkers Prairie won 59-9 against Osakis, and Class AA’s fifth-ranked Pequot Lakes-Pine River-Backus won a 71-6 final. Osakis’ lone win in that one came from Jacob Taplin with a pin at 120 pounds.

Reggie George won a 9-4 decision for the Silverstreaks at 106 pounds against Bertha-Hewitt, and Taplin added another pin in 2:31 at 120. Orran Hart, Bennet Arceneau, Tristan Hubbling, David Revering, Hunter Strom, Holden Truax, Deagan Captain, Justin Koehn, Reese Thompson, Braden Shamp and Lincoln Finck had wins for the Raiders.

The Silverstreaks built an 18-3 lead through the lower weights against Blackduck behind pins from George (106) and Christian Nathe (126), and a forfeit win for Simon Jacobson (113). Kale Drevlow added an 8-4 win at 152 pounds, and Conner Koep (220) and Carsten Jacobson (170) both had forfeit wins to wrap up the scoring for Osakis.
