According to the Alexandria Public Schools calendar, students in grades 9 through 12 have a total of 174 contact days, while middle school students (grades 6-8) have 173 days and elementary students (PreK-5) have 171 days.
AP courses are taught by high school teachers who follow course guidelines developed and published by the College Board.
In some areas, Alexandria students score higher than state average.

Editor’s note: In response to an Aug. 9 letter to the editor in the Echo Press, “Student play ‘Chicago’ is immoral, inappropriate,” the Alexandria School District contacted the newspaper and wanted it noted that the district has already provided a press release on the fall play and the Echo Press published a related story.
