The Brandon-Evansville boys basketball team (4-2) traveled almost two hours for the Lakeview Tournament in Cottonwood and secured a win in its first game of the tournament by beating Cedar Mountain (3-3) in a 66-57 game Wednesday.
“Overall, I thought we played with good energy,” B-E head coach Trent Hintermeister said. “Cedar Mountain never went away. We had multiple double-digit leads and they would fight back to make it close all night long. We had a lot of players play well and do multiple things to help us get the win.”
Four players finished in double figures as junior guard Dezmond White led the way with 20 points. Tyler Bitzan added 16, and Titus Fuller and Micah Fuller had 13 and 11 points, respectively. Riley Perleberg (3), Brady Perleberg (2) and Lucas Fuller (1) rounded out the scoring.
The Chargers will now face the host school at 7 p.m. in Lakeview with the Lakers sitting at 8-0 after beating Ortonville 77-39 on Wednesday. Lakeview is beating teams by more than 26 points per game through its 8-game winning streak.
“We will have to clean some things up to come away with a win (Thursday),” Hintermeister said.

B-E girls snap 4-game skid
The Brandon-Evansville girls basketball team (3-4) was also in Cottonwood on Wednesday for the Lakeview Holiday Tournament as the Chargers snapped a four-game losing streak with a 59-56 win over Cedar Mountain (2-6).
“It was a competitive game with multiple lead changes in the second half,” B-E head coach Zach Traphagen said. “I thought the girls did a really nice job of staying patient offensively, taking good shots, and moving the ball around the perimeter. We shot very poorly from the free-throw line, but made some timely ones late in the game to seal the win.”
Kylee Dingwall had a team-high 16 points for the Chargers while adding four assists, five steals and four rebounds. Olivia Otto added 14 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 assists.
“It feels good to get back in the win column after a tough 4-game stretch,” Traphagen said. “(Thursday) we will play Lakeview, so we will need to carry over this momentum into the game.”
That game is set to start at 5:30 p.m. in Cottonwood.
