The Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale-Parkers-Prairie (BHVPP) Raiders traveled nearly two hours to Aitkin Tuesday to face off against the Aitkin Gobblers (Section 7AA) and the Foley Falcons (No. 11 in Section 6AA in the Guillotine).

The Falcons and Gobblers blew past the Raiders with some pins and open weights in the back end of the lineup.

Junior Bennet Arceneau (listed as No. 9 at 113 by The Guillotine but has been wrestling at 120) led the way for the Raiders, earning pins in both his matches and improving to 13-2.

Freshman Orran Hart improved to 9-4 on the season by earning two wins Tuesday. Sophomore David Revering moved to 18-5 with two wins as well.

Sophomore Reese Thompson moved down to 138 for the Raiders, while sophomore Holden Traux filled in at 138 and 195 remained open.

The Raiders have lost their last three duals in a row and have a 4-8 dual record.

Aitkin cruises to 48-27 win over BHVPP

Aitkin earned nine victories in the final nine out of 11 matches. Only three of those victories were forfeit weights (160, 170, and 195).

Hart started the dual with a win via a forfeit by the Gobblers.

Freshman John Pelarski (113) put Aitkin on the board with a 4-0 decision over BHVPP 8th-grader Justin Olson.

Arceneau picked up the Raiders first pin of the night over Gobbler freshman Kyle Hacker (3:04). Revering pushed the Raiders’ lead to 15-3 with a 5-4 decision win over Gobbler sophomore Nathan Trotter.

BHVPP only won two matches in the dual after that, at 145 with Traux winning by forfeit and at 220 with freshman Braden Shamp pinning Aitkin senior Zachary Leitinger (2:49).

Aitkin secured the 48-27 win over BHVPP, with pins at 152, 182, and 285, in addition to winning the aforementioned weight classes via forfeit.

Raiders start strong but falter late against Foley

The Raiders earned a 25-6 lead through the first six matches in the dual against Foley. But the Falcons rallied, outscoring the Raiders 46-0 in the final eight weight classes.

The Raiders did have a forfeit weight at four of the final eight weights (160, 182, 195, 220), but in the other four weight classes, the Falcons earned dominant victories.

Hart earned a 7-4 victory over Falcon 8th-grader Hunter Wilhelmi to start the dual. The Falcons bounced back with a pin at the 2:44 mark by 8th-grader Wyatt Wall over Olson.

The Raiders got a second-period pin (at 3:12 in the match) by Arceneau over freshman Tyler Wilhelmi. Freshman Evan Jares (126) earned the quickest pin of the dual for the Raiders, with a pin against freshman Blake Herbst (1:28).

Revering followed with a pin of his own at the 1:41 mark over sophomore Cayden Hansmeier.
