The Osakis cross country teams featured a young group of athletes this season without a senior on the roster as the Silverstreaks named two of their young up-and-coming athletes as top runners for both the boys and girls.
Zack Bruder earned that Most Outstanding Runner Award for the boys as a freshman. He led the Osakis boys at the Section 6A meet on the Minnewaska Golf Course in late October after finishing 24th individually with a 5K time of 18:21.2.
Junior Kale Drevlow was the Silverstreaks’ next fastest finisher that day in 35th place (18:52.7), and Drevlow earned the team’s Most Improved Runner Award for the boys.
Bruder and sophomore Jacob Taplin were All-Central Minnesota Conference runners from that conference championship meet, while Drevlow earned honorable-mention honors.
Kaia Fiskness is a 7th-grader who is a big part of this program’s future, and she earned the girls’ Most Outstanding Runner Award. Fiskness was Osakis’ top finisher for the girls at the Section 6A meet as she raced to a 29th-place finish overall in a time of 22:08.6.
