Starting Monday, May 10, Pope County facilities will reopen all common areas of county facilities to members of the public.
Since March 22, members of the public have been able to visit the county’s facilities by contacting individual departments for service from a staff member, who would accompany the visitor into the facility to the appropriate office. The newest phase of operations on May 10 will allow members of the public to enter the facility on their own after being asked to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms.
Members of the public visiting a county facility must still adhere to social distancing rules and wear a face covering in accordance with county policy and state mandates, as must members of the county’s staff during meetings with the public.
Courthouse visitors may enter the building through the east entrance, as well as the reopened north and south entrances. Visitors to the Health and Human Services Annex and Highway Building may use the normal main entrances to those buildings.
These implemented standards are based on best current public health advice and are subject to review and change if community conditions warran, according to Pope County leaders.

Pope County still strongly encourages those able to accomplish county business by phone, mail, email and the county website to consider doing so if possible, but in-person services are available as well.
Note that Horizon Public Health and Pope County District Court may have their own operational policies and procedures different from those of county offices. If you have business with Horizon Public Health, call (800) 450-4177 for more information on current services and policies.
If you have business with or a matter set before the Pope County District Court, proceed through the courthouse's east entrance and lobby, and use the elevator to access court offices on the third floor. Contact the district court administration at (320) 634-5222 for more information.
