Todd County Health and Human Services will host a public health clinic at the Todd County Fair in Long Prairie on Friday, July 16 from 3 to 6 p.m.

Staff will offer dental varnishing to any child. Fluoride varnish is a dental treatment that can help prevent tooth decay, slow it down, or stop it from getting worse. Fluoride varnish is made with fluoride, a mineral that can strengthen tooth enamel (outer coating on teeth).

Fluoride varnish is painted on the top and sides of each tooth with a small brush. It is sticky but hardens once it comes in contact with saliva. Your child may feel the hardened varnish with his tongue but will not be able to lick the varnish off.

Additionally, a nurse will be available to provide the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine. This vaccine is available for those age 18 and over and is a single dose vaccine. The J&J/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine was 66.3% effective at preventing laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 infection in people who received the vaccine and had no evidence of being previously infected, according to Todd County health leaders.

People had the most protection two weeks after getting vaccinated. For more information visit: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/different-vaccines/janssen.html
