Letter: You can help hungry people in Alexandria area

To the editor:

Hunger is a recurring issue in our world. According to https://www.feedingamerica.org/ "Due to the effects of the coronavirus, more than 50 million people may experience food insecurity in 2020, including a potential 17 million children."

Did you know that the Douglas County Outreach Food Shelf provides food for approximately 500 families each month? You can help by donating to the outreach food shelf in Alexandria. The food shelf will take money donations, along with some food donations. They will also take toiletries. For example, Kleenex, toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, and deodorant for men and women.

If you would like more information or would like to donate financially to the food shelf, please visit their website at www.outreachfoodshelf.org. Their address is 1205 Lake Street, Alexandria, MN 56308. If you would like to contact them by phone, their number is 320-762-8411.

If you do not live in, or close to Alexandria, check with the local food shelf near you to see what you can do to help in your area.
