Letter: Thanks are due to our election officials for making voting safe and accurate

To the editor:

Thank you to the local election board staff for helping to make voting safe and accurate in Douglas County! And thank you to the officials in the 10 townships in Douglas County who have wisely chosen mail-in ballots for their citizens.

Mail-in voting is not new to Minnesota, and the state has made it a practical alternative to in-person voting. At the state website mnvotes.org you can register to vote and apply for an absentee (mail-in) ballot. There you can even track your ballot, so you know when it is received and that it will be counted.

As a poll worker who has enjoyed helping voters for 40 years, I will miss greeting my thousands of township voter-friends this year. However, I applaud the county, township and state efforts to keep election workers and voters safe! Let’s all start early to safely exercise our constitutional right to vote.
