To the editor:
A recent Echo Press editorial explaining why Selective TV does not include Fox News in its line-up was an accurate account of what a Selective TV board spokesperson told the newspaper. The answer was that it would be too expensive and economically unfeasible. No doubt there would be extra costs involved.
But there should be another chapter to the story. One that would help Selective TV viewers understand why, if Selective TV could afford one cable news channel, they chose MSNBC over the highest rated news outlet in the country, Fox News. The former is left leaning, anti-Trump and the latter is just the opposite.
Selective TV is a valuable and appreciated system that has provided television viewing throughout Douglas County for nearly a half century. It survives mainly on $10 a month donations (and not all users pay). Who knows – there may be many willing to pay a little more if Fox News were added.
While it would be interesting to know what overall costs would be in making this happen, one has to believe that it can be done.
