To the editor:
Saturday Art Market — another unquestionable successful summer. On behalf of myself, Mimi Seykora, Bill Glade and all the Alexandria Area Art Guild members who participated, THANK YOU for an amazing summer. Whether we had 10 or 18 vendors, we were blown away with the public's response to this community art experience for 13 weeks this summer.
Mimi kept a "count" of how many people visited Big Ole Park and according to her totally unofficial, clicker count, we are proud to say we guesstimate 11,l40 people visited the park throughout the run of the event. We had people from Hong Kong, France, Mexico and everywhere in between stroll the grounds of this quaint space.
Thank you to all the musicians who performed. They added a great ambiance, some toe tapping music to keep us entertained and an amazing choice of songs to sing along with. Thank you to Carlson Music, the Downtowners Assn. and to all the generous donors who helped support us. The City of Alexandria and Bill Thoennes' Park Dept crew provided a top notched brick patio for the musical groups to perform on, too.
As always, the great Farmer's Market is there every Saturday with fresh produce, flowers, and let's not forget all those sweet treats. I also would like to mention The Echo Press for their awesome coverage and promotion pictures.

It is evident by these outcomes, that the arts matter to this area. There is no charge to come and spend some time with us on Saturdays. We look forward to being bigger and better next summer.
