Letter: Open all township precincts for in-person voting

To the editor:

Your right to vote is a precious right indeed! Yet this year your right is being taken from you. It is shameful that most of us have been so passive and accepting about the news that our precincts will not be open for in-person voting. Mailing is not voting.

We should be challenging the township board members to get our polling centers open and ready for voting day. Going along with this ridiculous idea of mailing in a ballot is giving up your right to cast your vote in person and risking the integrity of your ballot.

I am asking every township board member in every township to open the polling centers for the citizens to cast their vote, in person and have our vote counted immediately. There is absolutely no good reason to deny the citizens this right, not even COVID-19. If you agree that your vote matters and should be counted immediately, please contact your township board members and get our polling centers open for our November election.

Stand up for your right to vote! And by the way, offer to do your part and help out at the polls
