Letter: Kindness at the grocery store check-out in Alexandria

The following is a letter to the editor submitted to the newspaper by a reader. It does not necessarily reflect the views of the Echo Press. To submit a letter, send it to aedenloff@echopress.com or Echo Press, P.O. Box 549, Alexandria, MN 56308.

To the editor:

From healthcare to hardware. From boutiques to buffets. Friendly neighbors and churches who value their guests. Alexandria pulses with the kindnesses of helping people.

We are community newcomers and recently received the generous favor of a caring couple in a local grocery store. When I opened my handbag to pay for groceries, my wallet wasn’t in it. The clerk explained she couldn’t take my local check without further identification.

A nearby couple immediately chose to buy my groceries! “Have a great day,” they added. Thank You. I will pay it forward.
