Letter: Join your neighbors in going solar
To the editor:
First, I wish to thank the Echo Press for publishing a short article I saw in the first week of September about the non-profit Solar United Neighbors (SUN) and their work to help people in the area go solar. Solar energy is something I have long had an interest in. Reading that a solar co-op was launched and is looking for members in our region was intriguing to me.
As I researched the website for Solar United Neighbors and realized it is a national organization fostering the startup of locally setup co-ops to further bring the opportunity of solar to communities, I knew I had to join this group of forward thinking individuals.
What I found by visiting their website was that it was informative and easy to navigate and that they were seeking new co-op members. Simply put, a solar co-op is people working together to get the best price on solar and to get the support and expertise of Solar United Neighbors staff. It is free to join and I am a member now and looking forward to going solar.
At present we have nine members so there is room for more. The co-op is for farmers, residential home owners, rural areas, summer residents and small businesses alike; it benefits everyone.
Please check out the website and consider joining to help bring new energy technology to our communities and region. You can find out more and join at www.solarunitedneighbors.org/prairiesolar
