To the editor:

Thank you, Congresswoman Fischbach!

Recently, representatives in Washington, D.C. (mostly Democrats) have rammed through their excessive spending projects with the Infrastructure and Reconciliation bills.

Thank you to Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach for voting against both of these bills.

President Biden’s Reconciliation bill (the so-called “Build Back Better” bill) would grant amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants – 6.5 million illegals, according to the Congressional Budget Office. It would raise taxes on natural gas and propane. It fails to include the Hyde Amendment, thus allowing taxpayer dollars to be used for abortion on demand. Surely there are still a lot of pro-life voters in west central Minnesota, both Democrats and Republicans that object to this. The bill also bans development of domestic energy along coastlines and on most federal lands, increasing our dependency on OPEC, Russia, and China fuel.

In the “infrastructure” bill, only a small portion of the overall $1.2 trillion goes towards true infrastructure, like fixing roads and bridges. Included in the remainder of the bill we find a pilot program to charge a mileage tax on every mile driven, sexual identity and sexual orientation language in broadband policy, and provision to the IRS of nearly $80 billion, enabling the agency the resources to target families, farmers, and small businesses that resist the liberal agenda.

Those who have passed these bills would have us believe the cost is zero. The truth is, these bills are funded by adding to our already staggering national debt.

Thank you, Congresswoman Fischbach, for standing up for rural Minnesota!
