Letter: Diamond Classic Boat Show was one for the record books

To the editor:

Following a rough 2020, the Legacy of the Lakes Museum has made it our mission to welcome back summer. While some great innovations were made in 2020, including a boat parade which will be returning this year, there is nothing quite like getting back on the water with our annual boat show and the public agreed with us.

Our 2021 Diamond Classic Boat Show, renamed in recognition of our presenting sponsor Diamond Buick GMC of Alexandria, was one for the record books. Forty boats were displayed in the water and on land and the crowds came out in droves to see them. People were invited to vote for their favorite and were treated to pop-up exhibits provided by the museum.

The board of directors and staff at the museum want to take this opportunity to thank the community for their support, both during this show and the past year during COVID. We also want to give a huge thank you to the dedicated volunteers that allowed the event to go off without a hitch. Thank you to the captains and vendors who presented at the show and to Arrowwood Resort for opening their docks to us. Finally, thanks go out to Tom Juul for creating the award plaque, Blake Steinbring for photographing the event, and to Diamond Buick GMC of Alexandria, who presented the show with us.
