To the editor:
Over the course of 22 years as a criminal prosecutor, I have learned the futility of trying to correct each piece of inaccurate information parsed out by those who have an ax to grind with law enforcement. But occasionally, someone will spew information that is so wildly inaccurate and rife with hypocrisy that I am compelled to respond.
Judd Hoff’s letter to the editor dated April 6 is one such specimen. I would encourage your readers to consider both the message and the source.
Mr. Hoff implies that my office is soft on crime. He does so from the comfort of his prison cell because my office successfully prosecuted him for assaulting a member of our community with a machete in broad daylight on a public street in Alexandria.
I will allow your readers to draw their own conclusions as to whether Mr. Hoff is a reliable source of information concerning law and order. The same can be said regarding Mr. Hoff’s allegation, from his prison cell, that my office is soft on crime.
