Letter: A quote that may forewarn us about our constitutional rights

To the editor:
Harry Truman , 33rd president of the United States: “The fundamental basis of this nation’s laws was given to Moses on the Mount. The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings we get from Exodus and Saint Matthew, from Isaiah and Saint Paul….If we don’t have a proper fundamental moral background, we will finally end up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the state!”
Does this sound like the path we are on in America? Think about it. With rights and liberties comes responsibilities as to how we treat each other and what we expect from our government.
Much of what goes on today in Washington DC has nothing to do with our constitutional rights and liberties. It’s all about money, power, and political ideology. None of which typically act on the behalf of our individual rights and liberties.
Pay attention. Be aware of what is going on. Express your opinion with thought out ideas, and do it peacefully.
