To the editor:
This past Saturday, a group of our friends threw a benefit in honor of our son, Lucas, who will be undergoing chemo this summer for a brain tumor that was discovered in February. This has been a long few months for our family and it is still a long road ahead. But with the love and support of our friends, family, and community, it is bearable.
We have cherished the prayers, thoughts, and kind words from so many. Saturday was a testament to the absolutely wonderful community in which we live. It was overwhelming to see the love of our community. Part way through the day, I started referring to the B-E community, not as Brandon-Evansville, but as the "Best Ever" because it is.
Saturday proved without a doubt why this community is the best ever. Friends and family traveled from near and far to show their support to our family. It was truly an amazing and humbling experience. There are so many people that we would like to thank, but words can never do enough. For those who helped plan the benefit, thank you. You are an amazing group of people who went far beyond anything we could have dreamed of.
For those who donated time, money, and items for it to be a success, thank you. Your generosity is beyond comprehension. For those of you who volunteered to work, who celebrated the day, or who were a part of it in any way, thank you. You made Lucas's day amazing. Throughout this entire ordeal, there has been the slogan, "Lucas is my Superhero." We think the real superheroes are those who have shown the support that we've needed.
