Letter to the Editor: 'Unplanned' movie is a must-see
To the editor:
I would like to express my overflowing gratitude to the Alexandria lakes area for coming together to bring the outstanding movie, "Unplanned," to our local theater.
Thanks are in order to Colleen Ellerbroek, general manager of CEC Midway
Cinema 9, for engaging to my inquiry following Valentine's Day of this year regarding the movie coming to the Alexandria.
I'd also like to express my gratitude to her booking agent who managed to defy the odds and secure the necessary licensing (etc.) for the movie to premiere at our theatre. I have not confirmed this, but I've received word that of the approximately 46,000+ movie theatres in America, only a mere 1,100 or so premiered "Unplanned" this past weekend.
Which leads me to my next point. If you are among those who went to see the movie this past weekend, thank you! You are part of the reason this movie is doing so well despite all odds (see
Special thanks to Love INC of Douglas County, Living Water Church, New Testament Church, New Life Church, Alexandria Covenant Church, The Church in The Pines, and Common Grounds Coffee House for their efforts in promoting the film.
My wife and I went to see it this past Sunday. The theatre was packed. More remarkable was
the turnout was made up of parents with their teenagers, young adults, middle-aged, and even an astonishing number of senior citizens.
"Unplanned" tells the inspiring true story of one of the youngest Planned Parenthood clinic directors in the nation who was involved in over 22,000 abortions who had an eye-opening encounter (similar to Saul/Paul in the Bible) that led her to join her former enemies and become one of the most ardent pro-life speakers in America. Regardless of your political leanings or
religious beliefs, this movie is a must-see.
