To the editor:
Last week, U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson (I like to call him Nancy Pelosi's accountant) came to Alexandria with his guy next door talk to once again try to fool the people of western Minnesota.
Contrary to what the paper called it, the VA Mission Act is not proposed legislation, but a bill that became law on June 6, 2018, and Nancy's accountant voted against it.
He then went on to say that he was working to create veterans' nursing homes (VNHs) in Montevideo and Bemidji. Here is the truth: The VNH in Bemidji is a state project, not a federal project. The Montevideo project has been in the planning stage for over a decade, and Peterson has never secured the two-thirds allocation from the federal government needed to build the facility.
He also said, "We have one in Fergus Falls." It was built in 1997, and it was also built by the state. He was in Congress at that time. Bottom line, Minnesota has done a great job of taking care of veterans; Nancy's accountant - not so much.
