Commentary: An update on B/E school plans
By Don Peschel, superintendent, Brandon-Evansville School District
First off, I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of you who attended our community meetings, completed the online survey and offered input during Phase I of the strategic planning process. Your input, reflections, and comments were appreciated and will help guide us into the next phase of the process.
At the November school board meeting the school board approved moving forward with ICS Consulting to guide the district through Phase 2 of the strategic planning process. Phase 2 will include additional educational surveys and assessments, developing potential solutions and seeking community input and feedback.
In efforts to keep our community members up to date on the Brandon-Evansville strategic planning process, I will be submitting letters to the local newspapers, periodically, on where the district is at in the process and any upcoming meetings or events you can attend. Residents will also be mailed updates as we reach milestones in the project.
I am excited to announce the launch of a dedicated website where you can find information about the BE strategic planning process. Check it out at www.bechargersunited.com. This website will provide you with updates and information pertaining to the district's strategic planning process. Results from Phase 1 listening sessions, online survey and school board work session can be found on our new dedicated website www.bechargersunited.com.
Over the last month, ICS team members and our district staff have been working on a variety of assessments and reports including federal ADA compliance, demographic data, education adequacy reports and overall facility assessments of both the Brandon and Evansville buildings.
Results from the demographics study and educational adequacy study will be presented at a school board work session on Dec. 17, at 5 p.m., in the Evansville Senior Center. Find these results and more at www.bechargersunited.com
I welcome all comments, questions and feedback about the strategic planning process. Questions and comments can be submitted on the district's dedicated website: www.bechargersunited.com, or by contacting me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or calling (320) 834-4084 ext. 6117.
