To me, there’s nothing like the fall season. Whether that’s because of watching college and professional football, seeing the colors of the leaves change, the temperature cooling a little bit, unlocking positive childhood memories that I had completely forgotten about, or just the feeling in the air when fall kicks in.
I don’t know how you all feel about this, but to me, fall is the overall best season. I have this feeling for a multitude of reasons, but overall it’s kind of a combination of a lot of things.
For one, I’m a huge fan of wearing anything flannel and at this point of the year, wearing flannel could be considered a part of my personality. There’s just something about it that feels comforting. I generally consider myself a boring person when it comes to my “fashion” choices but having options for different kinds of flannels for the fall is a must for me.
Then there are the entertainment choices that begin in the fall. New seasons of your favorite television show likely start in the fall (or at least mine do), or reruns of your favorite spooky show or movie start to come on as the fall goes on.
For me, I’m a huge fan of “spooky things,” whether it’s watching Halloween movies, listening to ghost stories and wives’ tales, or entertaining the thoughts or paranormal activity. Now I’m not going to go into more detail on that last point, but I’ll say that I am least open to the thought of the paranormal realm existing.

On the sports side of things, It’s a whole new beginning for basically every single sport, except for golf and baseball, which begin their postseasons.
I can’t tell you all how many days, weeks, or maybe even months I’ve lost watching college football and professional football, but I will tell you all that I’ve enjoyed the majority of the time I’ve spent watching those games.
To me, September through November is the best stretch of sports entertainment, which is one of my favorite things about the fall season. There are the aforementioned baseball and golf postseasons, which I’m a fan of, but there’s also professional football, basketball and hockey starting up. I’m looking forward to getting into watching professional and college hockey this fall.
I also associate the fall season with the colors of orange and black, which is one of my favorite color combinations. And I don’t know if I associate those colors with the fall season because of Halloween or because the colors of my high school (Ames High School in Ames, Iowa) are orange and black, or if it’s a combination of both.
There are also a lot of family gatherings and birthdays in my family in the fall, so getting together for those occasions along with the holidays is great as well, obviously.
I’ll end my spiel on my favorite parts of fall by saying this; I’m also a huge fan of candy, and the month of October is a big beginning for what I’ll call the “candy season,” even though candy should always be “in season.”
Personally, any sort of Reese’s combination is my favorite candy. And I’ll say this as well, candy corn is great. I can’t imagine going through the fall without it.
My exit question is this: What’s your favorite part of the fall season?
