Matthew Richards

Matthew Richards, age 46, of Alexandria, Minnesota and formerly of Hixton, Wisconsin, died Saturday, March 25, 2023 surrounded by his family.

Matt was born on December 19, 1976 in Black River Falls, WI to Mark and Barbara (Gilbertson) Richards. Matt graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1995, and served in the Army from 1995-1999, at Fort Campbell KY. Matt married Michelle Michels in June of 2010. They raised their two wonderful children, Kane and Meya, in Alexandria, MN. Matt was employed in the truck driving industry for the past 20 years.

Matt loved to go fast. He has had many motorcycles and snowmobiles throughout the years. His most recent motorcycle was his Harley Davidson, which was his favorite. Matt also loved to hunt, with his family, on his father’s land in Hixton, where he grew up. Matt was also a sports fan. He was a big Minnesota Viking fan and also followed the Twins and the Wild.

Most importantly, Matt loved to hang out with his friends and family. He wanted to spend time with the people he loved. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. Matt will be remembered as a very loving, generous, easy going and hard-working man with a great sense of humor.

Surviving Matthew are his children, Kane Michel and Meya Dylan; his wife Michelle (Michels); his brother Peter Richards (Amy Skroch); and his father Mark Richards.

He was preceded in death by his mother Barbara (Gilbertson) Richards.

A celebration of Matthew’s life will be held on Saturday, April 15, at noon, at the American Legion in Hixton, WI.
