Lee Ann Boyer

Lee Ann (Wester) Boyer was born on December 29, 1956, in Benson, MN to Sheldon and Janice (Ziesemer) Wester. She attended Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1974 in Alexandria, MN. Lee was very active in sports and lettered in Track and Field. She was also one of the few ladies to take automotive class. Lee met Thomas Zunker, through her brother Ron, and the two were married the following summer. The couple made their home in the Alexandria area. Lee stayed at home to care for her three daughters until she started working for the Alex Park Department. She loved being outdoors for her job, being able to tend gardens, paint, and enjoyed her co-workers. After a couple of years, Lee got a job at Alex Extrusion where she worked for many years. Lee would work 12 hour days and still have enough time and energy to take her girls to the park, beach, or other fun spots. She also enjoyed sports leagues like volleyball, bowling, and softball and bringing her daughters along for the fun. In 1986, Lee met Brian Boyer and on October 3, 1987 the couple was united in marriage at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria, MN. With this marriage, Lee was blessed with Brian’s daughter, Tonia, also becoming a part of the family. When Brian was over the road trucking, Lee would take care of things at home and when he was home she made sure there was ample amount of family time. Lee loved her family movie nights, hosting the holidays, and her lunch dates at Travelers Inn.

Lee was a devoted Christian and loved sharing her faith with others in many ways. She held bible study, was active in prayer chains, and even took in people who were homeless and gave them a place to stay. When her brother, Ron, got sick she and Brian moved to Ortonville and cared for him until he passed away. The couple then bought their house in Louisburg, MN where they enjoyed small town life, until 2012 when she moved to Henneman Country Care in Evansville, MN.

Lee was a kind, selfless, thoughtful woman who had a heart for everyone and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She passed away peacefully after a year long battle with pancreatic cancer surrounded by her husband and family.
