Jonathan Oleson

Jonathan Everett Oleson passed away peacefully with his three loving children by his side on January 25, 2022.

Jon was born in Garner, Iowa on May 20, 1945 to the Reverend Chester and Alice (nee Horton) Oleson, the second of three children. The family later moved to Nerstrand and Bird Island and ultimately to Halstad, Minnesota. Jon graduated from Halstad High School, where he played varsity basketball and baseball as well as the tuba in the marching band. Jon graduated from Concordia College with honors, majoring in History and Political Science. He would go on to earn a Masters of Education in School Administration from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and a PhD in Education from the University of Arizona.

Jon is preceded in death by his parents and sister Rhoda. Jon is survived by his sister, Miriam Petry, three children Nathan (Kristine), Ben (Penny) and Meggin (Lee) Gregory, grandchildren Jack, Braeden, Eliana, Jeremiah, Hannah, Evie, Kate, Ian and Miles; nieces Kristen and Kathi, and Susan Oleson, Sandy MacNally, Kelli Slonim and Kori Plachecki.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 8600 Fremont Ave S, Bloomington, MN.
