Donna L. Sigfrid

Donna L. Sigfrid, age 98, of Parkers Prairie died on Monday, August 15, 2022, at St. William’s Living Center.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with Rev. Rachel Stout officiating. Music provided by organist, Julie Lindgren and vocalists Connie Birkholz and Dedra Zwieg. Interment will take place at Parkers Prairie Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m., Monday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church and will continue one hour prior to the service.
Donna Louise Sigfrid was born on October 31, 1923, to John and Elsie (Johnson) Sigfrid in Parkers Prairie. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. Donna graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1941, and then went on to graduate from St. Cloud State University. Following her education, Donna taught school in various small towns throughout Minnesota and her last 34 years she taught in Detroit Lakes, retiring in 1984. Donna was very family oriented and supported her family in many ways, including buying an airplane for her younger brother, Bob so he could attend college. Following her retirement, she returned to Parkers Prairie to care for her aging parents. One of her highlights was taking her parents on a trip to Sweden where they met the King and Queen of Sweden in 1979. She enjoyed traveling, especially trips throughout Europe to include France, Netherlands, Belgium, Great Britain, Switzerland, and Northern Italy. Her traveling adventures also included China, and Thailand. In her earlier years she enjoyed belonging to the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and taking lessons in Swedish. Donna was an active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, its Rachel Circle and was an altar guild server for 26 years. She also served as an election judge for many years and on the Parkers Prairie Cemetery Board for 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gene, Darol, and Bob; nephew, Bruce Sigfrid; and a grandnephew, Nathan Sigfrid.
Donna is survived by her nephews, John (Perri) Sigfrid of Woodbury, Steve Sigfrid of Deer Creek, Gene Sigfrid, Jr., of Oregon; several grandnieces, grandnephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great great-nieces and nephews; close friends, Wilma Weber, and Jody Gappa; church family and a host of friends.
Pallbearers are Dale Weber, Gary Olson, Kevin Birkholz, Cody Sigfrid, Zachary Gappa, and Nathan Zabel.
