Anne Louise (Dougherty) Garrett, passed away on March 24th, 2022 in Melbourne, Australia.

Anne was born on May 20th, 1961 in St. Paul, MN and raised by her adoptive parents, Keith and Vivian Dougherty of Alexandria, MN. Anne and her family also lived in Clinton, MO for several years, returning to Alexandria when she was in the 7th grade.

Anne graduated from Jefferson Senior High school in Alexandria in 1979. After graduation, she entered the United States Army, serving most of her enlistment in Georgia. All of her life, she was very proud to be an Army Veteran.

Anne worked in the Customer Service field as the Manager of a Truck Plaza in Streator, Illinois, and also as Manager of the Holiday Station Stores in Alexandria. She loved serving the public, and was very enthusiastic about her work and being able to help others.

Anne moved to Melbourne, Australia in 2014 after meeting her life partner Karen Mitchell. “Frankie”, as she was known to Karen and friends in Australia, loved her life “down under” and made many friends there. She loved to travel the continent and see the many wonders Australia has to offer. She kept busy as an advocate for many local causes, and was an active member of the Frankston Uniting Church in Melbourne. Frankie Anne loved God and took great comfort in His love for her, of which she was certain.

Besides her partner Karen and the rest of her family and friends in America, Anne’s greatest loves in life were animals, whether they be her own pets or all of the animals she saw in nature, both in Australia and in North America.

Grateful for sharing Anne’s life are her partner Karen Mitchell, of Melbourne, Australia; her father Keith Dougherty of Alexandria, MN; brother Todd (Kim) Dougherty and nephews Scott and Sean Dougherty, all of Chamberlain, SD; stepsister Andrea (Mike) Kloubec of Buffalo, MN; and nieces Janae Dougherty of Roseville, MN, and Allisson Anderson of Evansville, MN, and four grand-nieces and nephews. Anne was preceded in death by her mother Vivian (Henningsgaard) Dougherty, her stepmother Crystal  (Fuhrmannek) Dougherty, and stepsister Gretchen (Fuhrmannek) Spaeth.

A celebration of Frankie’s life will be held on Sunday, April 3rd, 2022, at 5:30 pm at the Frankston Uniting Church in Melbourne, Australia.
