Ronald “Ron” Lindley

Ronald (Ron) Dean Lindley, loving father and papa, passed away on Saturday, February 13th, 2021, at the age of 68 due to ongoing medical conditions. Ron was born on April 3rd, 1952 in Osage, Iowa to Hilding and Darlene Lindley. He served in the military for 4 years. He received his teaching degree from the University of Northern Iowa and he was an English teacher for 33 years.

He was very passionate about his students and made sure to give each of them a nickname. Many of his students continue to proudly say, “I had Mr. Lindley as an English teacher.” Ron’s family was the most important thing to him. He would have done anything for anyone in his family with a smile on his face.

His hobbies included spending time with his family, fishing, and drinking Brandy. He was an avid fisherman and was a proud owner of a Ranger. His heart belonged on the lake. He spent many days fishing with his children and grandchildren. And he cherished many memories from trips to Lake Michigan with his family. Ron had a strong presence wherever he went. He was a caring, altruistic and compassionate man, as well as a humorous and expressive storyteller. Ron was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Hilding, his mother, Darlene, and his brother, Lynn. He is survived by his four children, Timothy, Alyssa, Nicole, and Holly, and his 13 grandchildren, Gabriella, Shawnia, Hunter, Spencer, Tate, Kira, Keegan, Madison, Riley, Jake, Emma, Layla, and Austin.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 18th, 2021 at Anderson Funeral Home from 4:00-6:00 PM with a time of sharing and prayer at 5:30 PM. The time of sharing and prayer will be live streamed at 5:30 PM for those unable to attend. CDC guidelines of social distancing and wearing of masks will be required. In Lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Alexandria Area Public Schools. Arrangements with Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
