98, of Sun City Center, FL, passed away at home August 2020. Survived by her 6 children, Meg, Pat (Kathy) Michael (Vicki) Mary Jo (Steve) Martha (Greg) and John (Judy). Beloved Grandmother of 10 and Great-grandmother of 6. Preceded in death by husband, Theodore, parents, and infant brother. Mary graduated from Holy Angels Academy (Mpls) and was in the Class of 1943 at St. Catherine’s University (St. Paul). She obtained her Pilot’s License during World War II and was hired by Honeywell Mpls as the first female “Drafting Engineer” where she worked on the Honeywell C-1 Autopilot for the Norden Bombsight.
Mary met and married the love of her life, Theodore, and in 1948 began her married life in Springfield, MN where Ted’s father was the mayor. Summers were spent on Lake Carlos in Alexandria, MN and in 1963, with 6 kids and “Gram” in tow, they moved to Lake Carlos year-round. Mary was gifted with extraordinary artistic talent which she pursued her entire life. Family occasions were always celebrated with elaborate decorated Angel Food cakes and her love of Angels inspired her own designed “Angel Christmas Cards” every year. Her Oil Paintings brought many Best Of Shows and Award winnings in Florida and adorn numerous homes today.
Volunteering was another passion close to Mary’s heart. She loved reading on public radio both in FL and MN for the sight-impaired and provided rides for Seniors through SSC Ride. Mary also chaired many a design committee, most notably the Catholic Church Social Hall in SSC (1995).
Mary’s family and friends meant the world to her and her immeasurable faith, love, and devotion for them will always be remembered.
Mom (Mom-Mom, GG) we will miss you forever. A private family ceremony and interment will be held at a later date.
