On November 21, 2019, Mark Elliot Larson of Park Rapids, a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and educator, passed away at the age of 72.
Mark was born June 21, 1947 in Alexandria, Minnesota, where he graduated from High School in 1965.
In 1969 Mark earned his teaching degree from Concordia College, Moorhead Minnesota. Mark served in the United States Army as a Staff Sargent and Chaplain Assistant. Following his service, he began his career as an educator in Perham, Minnesota.
Mark’s legacy as an educator, coach and yearbook adviser, are reflected in over 30 years of dedication and care to his students, athletes and fellow faculty. Their countless stories reflect Mark’s kindness, enthusiasm and commitment to others.
Mark was a dedicated committee member and contributing writer for the Pine-To-Palm golf tournament. He was a Minnesota sports field reporter for USA Today newspaper. In retirement, he was a trustee at Hubbard Methodist Church, and on the staff of the Park Rapids Chamber of Commerce.
Mark is lovingly remembered by his wife Linda; his sister Kay Beckett (Glen); his son Tim; his daughter Ann Schiller (Anthony); and grandchildren Benjamin, Lucas, Hannah, Logan, Carter and Landon. As well as extended family and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his father Ralph, mother Alberta, and his brother Larry.
Visitation will be on Saturday, December 14 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow. All events will be held on December 14th at Hubbard Methodist Church in Park Rapids, Minnesota.
Those who so desire may make memorials in memory of Mark to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund or Hospice Red River Valley.
