Michael George
Michael George, 75, passed away on April 4, 2021, at his home in Florence, AZ. Born on August 10, 1945 to Dean and Ardell George in Willmar, MN where he was raised. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He was drafted into the army where he served two years with the 32nd Army Air Defense Command, obtaining the rank of Army Specialist Five. Mike worked thirty-three years for the Minnesota Department of Economic Development in Alexandria, MN. Mike was an avid dirt track racing fan, and basketball enthusiast. He was named MVP, All Conference Selection, and Captain of his team that played in the 1965 National Jr. College tournament. He was also named one of the Outstanding Young Men of America in 1971. Michael is survived by Kathy, his wife of 43 years. His son Blair (Andrea) George, daughter Lenae (Rob Roeser). Grandchildren Ronan and Brynn Roeser, all living in Alexandria, MN. His sisters Shirley (George Seibert) of Fairfield Glade, TN, and Pam (Ron Romano) of Loveland, CO. A graveside service with Military honors will take place on June 7th at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. A scholarship has been established in Mike’s name for basketball equipment for the Alexandria Community Recreation Program.
