Janice I. Meyers

Janice Ida Meyers (Maunumaki) passed away peacefully surrounded by her children at Abbott Northwestern Hospital on Wednesday, May 27th at the age of 72.

Janice was born on July 15, 1947 in Wadena, Minnesota to her parents Howard Edwin and Linda Maria (Fraki) Maunumaki. She was raised in Heinola and graduated from New York Mills High School in 1965. After graduation she trained as a nurse assistant at St. Mary’s Hospital in Minneapolis. She married Benjamin Harvey Meyers October 25,1970 and they raised their four children in Alexandria. Janice later worked as a nurse assistant for Bethany Homes from January 1989 to June 2007. After retirement she moved to live with her daughter, Amanda, and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Linda Maunumaki; her brothers James, Howard (Danny) and Ronald Maunumaki; and her former spouse and father of her children Benjamin (Ben) Meyers.

Janice is survived by her children Amanda Cogley and her husband Chuck of Montrose; Sarah Woodhead and her husband Dave of Mooresville, NC; Nick Meyers of Montrose and Maria Gustafson and her husband Allen of Morris. Grandchildren Collin and Mitchell Cogley; Weston and Wyatt Woodhead; Logan Meyers, Brooke, Zachary and Allison Gustafson. Her siblings Judith (Duane) Johnson of Frazee; Kathleen (Berndt) Loween of Coon Rapids; Carol (Arnold) Saarela of Delano; Nancy (Dennis) Peyerl of Henning and Wanda (Michael) Erickson of Anoka. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and her seven grand dogs.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in New York Mills, MN. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery after the service.
