Gregg Zimmerman

Gregg Zimmerman of Onamia, MN passed away at Elim Nursing Home in Milaca, MN June 6, 2021 at the age of 63. Gregg was born on May 9, 1958 in Alexandria, MN. In 1976, Gregg joined the Marines, where he spent the following 8 years serving his country, and later joining the National Guard. In 1984, He met Ruth Abers and they were united in marriage October 12, 1985. They were blessed with a son, Casey, who was their pride and joy. Throughout their years of living in Osakis, MN, Gregg was Mayor of Osakis for 2 years.

Gregg loved to cook and entertain people. He loved to garden, whether it be vegetables or flowers. You could usually find him tinkering around with something, as he liked to stay busy. In his down time, Gregg liked watching SyFy movies and loved “The Walking Dead”.

Gregg is preceded in death by his Mother, Charmae Boyd; Father, Clarence Zimmerman; Brother, Mike Zimmerman; and his Aunt, Lauree Portshe.

Gregg is survived by his wife, Ruth Zimmerman; Son, Casey Zimmerman, both of Onamia, MN; Brother, Kim (Judy) Zimmerman of North Carolina, Brian (Dori) Zimmerman of South Carolina. Several cousins and nephews, as well as special friends, whom he considered extended family. Arrangements provided by Cremation Society of MN. Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
