Clyde Horlick was born December 5, 1944 in Melrose, MN to James and Mae Horlick. He lived his youth in the Sauk Centre/Alexandria area, spending his teen years on Lake Carlos and graduating in 1962 from Jefferson High School. He moved his family to Bemidji in the mid 70’s and dearly loved the northwoods and its lakes. He was always uniquely Clyde, with his quick wit, funny stories, awesome grill skills and engaging personality. He loved fishing, curling, hunting, his blue jeans and a baseball cap. He loved a cold beer, and in later years, his E&J Brandy. He was stubborn beyond words and proud to say he was never wrong. Being of Danish descent, he loved the phrase “You can always tell a Dane, but you can’t tell him much.” Above all, he was a fiercely loyal friend and he always lived life on his own terms.

He is survived by his daughters, Heidi Hoffman and children, Riley and Cole; Blythe (Denise Lien) Hoffman and children, Zach and Jaque; Megan (Chad) Christianson and children, Madison and Caleb; Brooke (Jaime) Quello and children, Emily, Shawn and Alicia. While he was the only child of Jim and Mae, he is also survived by bonus brothers, John Drussell, Bill Drussell, Greg Haanen and Rod Haanen. His was a lovely, mixed up family, blended to perfection, and he loved every single one. He is additionally survived by numerous families-in-law and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mae; step-dad, Earl Drussell (who raised him to adulthood) and his step-mom, Lonnie Drussell; and his sister, Holly Haanen.

You are forever in our hearts, Clyde. May you discover a new favorite fishing spot for all eternity.
