2 held as Wisconsin man's body found in cabin in east-central Minnesota
SANDSTONE, Minn. - Authorities are investigating after a man's body was found in a "remote" cabin near Sandstone in east-central Minnesota.
The body of 36-year-old Christopher A. Etchison was discovered Tuesday, four days after he was reported missing to the Barron (Wis.) Police Department. His cause of death remained under investigation Wednesday, according to the police department.
Two suspects were arrested in connection with the case Monday, a day before Etchison's body was found, though they have yet to face any formal charges.
The police department was first alerted to Etchison's disappearance when a family member called Friday morning. On Monday, "several leads were developed" that led to the execution of a search warrant at Etchison's residence, police said. Three potential suspects were questioned and arrested.
Two suspects remained jailed Wednesday. Two men, 18 and 20 years old, were facing preliminary charges of identity theft and obstruction. An 18-year-old woman, who was booked on an obstruction charge, was released from custody.
