Full day of basketball set for AAHS on Saturday

The Breakdown Sports Winter Lakes Classic is set for this Saturday, Feb. 9, with a full slate of boys and girls basketball games taking place at Alexandria Area High School.

The day gets going at 10 a.m. when the 16-2 Sauk Centre girls play 12-7 Rockford.

Perham (No. 3 Class AA) is the lone state-ranked boys team at the event as of the Jan. 30 Minnesota Basketball News polls. State-ranked girls programs at the tournament are Sauk Centre (No. 1, Class AA), Eden Valley-Watkins (No. 3, Class AA), Menahga (No. 2, Class A), Alexandria (No. 7, Class AAA) and Becker (No. 10, Class AAA).

The Alexandria girls play against Becker in a battle of two top-10 Class AAA teams at 6 p.m. The Alexandria boys take on a 5-11 Becker team to wrap up play for the day at approximately 7:30. Another notable match-up is the 18-0 Eden Valley-Watkins girls taking on 19-0 Menahga at 2:45 p.m.

10 a.m. - Sauk Centre (16-2) girls vs. Rockford (12-7)

11:30 - Sauk Centre (7-10) boys vs. Rockford (11-6)

1:15 p.m. - Eden Valley-Watkins (8-7) boys vs. Melrose (13-4)

2:45 - Eden Valley-Watkins (18-0) girls vs. Menahga (19-0)

4:15 - Holy Family Catholic (10-7) boys vs. Perham (16-1)

6:00 - Becker (16-2) girls vs. Alexandria (15-3)

7:30 - Becker (5-11) boys vs. Alexandria (11-6)
