Bethany on the Lake staff and residents in Alexandria received their first round of the COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, Jan. 4.
The FDA-approved Moderna vaccine was administered in partnership with Thrifty White Pharmacy. The vaccine is given in a two-dose series separated by 28 days and the second round will take place on Feb. 1.
This is a crucial day in history as long-term care facilities have been heavily impacted by the coronavirus, according to Bethany on the Lake leaders. For more information regarding long-term care and the importance of the vaccine from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, visit https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/recommendations/LTCF-residents.html.
“The COVID road has been a long one and we are thrilled to see a change in sight,” says Deb Buker, director of nursing at Bethany on the Lake. “We are filled with hope and gratitude as we look forward to a future where this virus and its effects are eliminated, or at the very least reduced.”
Bethany on the Lake said it will continue to practice infection prevention and control, while following the Minnesota Department of Health guidelines for visitation, masking, and social distancing.
